Every once in a while random bits of dialog or setting descriptions run through my brain, unattached to any current creative project. Many find their way into short stories or backstory information for one of my many Role Playing adventures. Here is an example. This exchange flitted through my mind without provocation.
“We found the suspect sir.”
“And what, prey, did he have to say for himself?”
“Um, nothing sir,” answered the Sergeant looking quite uncomfortable. “He was dead sir.”
“Yes sir. Throat cut sir,” the Sergeant supplied.
“How inconvenient,” said the inspector scratching his chin as he sat, a pensive expression on his face.
