My education has been sorely lacking. I find today the most beautiful description of what I have been going through the past year, particularly these past months, in the work of St. John of the Cross. His most famous work, perhaps, is his poetic treatise Dark Night of the Soul.
While I have been aware of the phrase (and that there was a literary work of the this title) for some time, I did not know anything of it personally. It’s a great read, one I recommend heartily, especially if you, like me, find yourself going through not just a spiritual dry place, but a scorching spiritual desert.
