  1. In Alaska our “house shoes” were essentially low-rise mukluks with softer soles. You could wear them out in the snow, but they weren’t deep enough, and lacked the high traction. I preferred the military style felt inserts inside a leather shell.

  2. “Cold Feed” eh? Your cold feet giving you a stuffy nose? 😀

    In Finland, we had tile in the mudroom and shower room. Both also had warm water running underneath them. I think the primary purpose was simply to keep the snow that fell off our boots from turning into an icy mess, but the secondary benefit was warm feet.
